Concert Lecture "Exploring German Romanticism"

Join us for an enchanting evening at the Steinway Piano Galleries in Atlanta as we delve into one of the most significant periods in music history—German Romanticism. In this unique concert lecture, Steinway Artist Boris Cepeda will guide you through the captivating world of Romantic music, blending performance and insightful commentary.

Boris will perform on a Steinway Grand Piano—recognized as the best of the best. This world-class instrument will bring to life the rich textures and intricate nuances of the pieces we'll explore.

During this special event, Boris will perform and explain three monumental works:

Variations Sérieuses, Op. 54 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: A masterful set of variations that showcase Mendelssohn's virtuosic and lyrical brilliance.

Kreisleriana, Op. 16 by Robert Schumann: A series of character pieces inspired by the eccentric and whimsical character Johannes Kreisler, reflecting Schumann's profound emotional depth.

Isoldes Liebestod from Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, arranged for solo piano by Franz Liszt: A transcendent adaptation of one of Wagner's most stirring and passionate operatic arias.

As Boris performs these iconic pieces, he will offer insights into their historical context, musical structure, and emotional resonance, providing a deeper understanding of the composers' artistic visions. This concert lecture will be a journey through time, enriched by the fantastic melodies and profound expressions of Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Wagner.

This marks Boris’ first solo recital and lecture in Atlanta, a city he proudly calls his hometown since July 2023. He is excited to share his expertise and passion for these works with the community.

Availability is very limited, so stay tuned for more details on how to secure your seat.
